La’eb Al Nard

There are few better ways to kick off a day than with Mahmoud Darwish.

Save perhaps an animated version of a his poetry set to music by Le Trio Joubran:

Animated by Nissmah Roshdy, La’eb Al Nard (The Dice Player) is part of a project on visual poetry at the German University in Cairo and won the prize for Best Poetry Film at the 7th ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival in Berlin last October.

The short is also one of the first animated poetry films done with an Arabic poem.
