Although seals were never high on my list of animals to see, witnessing a couple bobbing in the waves on Aberdeen beach stimulated an addiction that must be met every weekend.
Admittedly, the addiction is not entirely based on the joy of the seals themselves – rather, as with any amateur photographer, it is the objective of catching The Great Shot.
Which is why I am forever disappointed, for while I yearn to walk away with a shot to rival that of the great Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado:
I inevitably trudge home with this:
Which in all honesty could be seals, but equally could be Nessie.
Nevertheless, the craptasticness of my shots will doubtless feed my obsession and hopefully, by the summer, I might actually have images of seals with faces.
Which in my mind will put me on par with Salgado for, um, 10 minutes.
