This week’s PhotoHunt theme is blue, and is brought to you from Amman, Jabal al-Weibdeh in particular.
This church, perched on the hillside was a favourite haunt of mine when pensive, or just in need of a break from the rigmarole of research.
There was something so serene about the location, and while the mosaics ensconced on the exterior of the church were modern, there was a beauty nonetheless.
In the basement of the church was the Jordan office of Caritas, a Catholic agency for overseas aid and development, with offices in the Middle East and North Africa, Europe, Africa, Oceania, Asia, North America and Latin America.
Established in Amman in 1967 in response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the Six-Day War with Israel, Caritas Jordan has since become a major force in the fight against poverty, and helps to promote development in various sectors of Jordanian society.
